July 4, 2021 Westminster Cares: PPP – Place Rev. Dr. Martha M. Campbell

Posted on July 4, 2021 @ 1:13 pm

On this Fourth of July holiday we freely gather to worship.

Here is the link for today’s service:

Rev. Dr. Martha Campbell welcomes the community to worship then leads everyone in the Call to Worship with Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell.

Dr. Imre Szilas plays the Prelude: “Prelude on ‘America’” by Gordon Young.

After the Westminster Chimes, Pastor Twine leads the community in singing the forth verse of the hymn: “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies.”

Pastor Twine shares the announcements and Prayer concerns then leads the congregation in prayer followed by The Lord’s Prayer and then The Affirmation of Faith.

Imre Szilas plays the Anthem “The Bristol March” by Oliver Shaw.

The Prayer of Illumination and the Bible reading from Genesis 28:10-17  follow, then Pastor Martha presents the sermon:  Westminster Cares Act: Place.  This is the first in our “PPP” series.  Westminster’s future lies in supporting our Place, our People and our Programs.  Pastor Martha observes that Westminster is a “thin place” where the distance between heaven and earth collapses and we’re able to catch glimpses of the spiritual realm that surrounds us.

The service closes with the Charge, Benediction and Postlude: “Fanfare” by Richard Purvis played by Imre Szilas on the Westminster pipe organ.

Our services are filmed by Robert Smith and are available on our webpage (wpcpas.org) and our Facebook and YouTube pages (Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pasadena, CA) or if you provide your contact information we can send a link every Sunday.
