July 11, 2021 Westminster Cares – PPP – People Rev. Dr. Twining F. Campbell III

Posted on July 11, 2021 @ 8:39 am

On this second week of our PPP series, here is the link for today’s service:

Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell welcomes the community to worship then Dr. Imre Szilas plays the Prelude: “Choral Prelude on the tune ‘Rock of Ages’” composed by Dr. Szilas.

After the Westminster Chimes, Rev. Dr. Martha Campbell leads the community in the Call to Worship we join in singing the first verse of the hymn: “Here I Am, Lord.”

Pastor Martha shares the Prayer concerns and leads the congregation in prayer followed by The Lord’s Prayer and The Affirmation of Faith.

Imre Szilas plays the Anthem he composed, “Beside the Still Waters” in its first public performance.

Pastor Twine offers the Prayer of Illumination, the Bible reading from 1 Peter 2:1-10  and presents the sermon:  Westminster Cares Act: People.  This is the second in our “PPP” series.  People look for meaning in all sorts of places – but only one is satisfying.  When we realize that we are called to be followers of Jesus, Peter tells us to mature in faith so that we can declare the praises of God through ways we minister to and for others.

The service closes with the Charge, Benediction and Postlude: “Toccata in D minor” also written and played by Imre Szilas on the Westminster pipe organ.

At our in-person worship service, at 10:00, we Ordained and Installed Dawn Smith as an Elder.

Our services are filmed by Robert Smith and are also available on our Facebook and YouTube pages (Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pasadena, CA) or if you provide your contact information we can send a link every Sunday.  We will be trying different ways of filming our services over these coming weeks so the timing of services may be different.
